Review: T.I. - F*** The City Up Mixtape

Artist: T.I.
Mixtape: F*** The City Up
Year: 2012
Rating: D+

T.I. delivers his anticipated mixtape to kick off the year "F*** The City Up" featuring appearances by a who's who of the industry and Atlanta.

The mixtape kicks off with the intro and horns to get you ready. The title and first track is definitely one of the standouts on here "F*** The City Up" featuring Young Jeezy.

A couple of other standouts from the mixtape are "Loud Mouth" featuring 2 Chainz and "On Purpose".

What the tape lacks is cohesion, which is inherently present on most mixtapes. T.I. is in the upper echelon of artists so even him in "practice mode" outshines most of his guests, especially newcomers from the Grand Hustle label which don't have the same pedigree as him.

You can't be mad at free music and there are a handful of songs that you will won't to keep playing but it's definitely not up there with his previous mixtapes that I loved like "The Leak" or "In The Streets" series that he had about ten years ago.

Life is about evolving the here and now though so if I want the old music it's still available on YouTube or other websites. I just had high expectations from his verses he dropped ("Spend It" w/ 2 Chanz and "I'm Flexin'" w/Big K.R.I.T)  when he first got released from prison

The Raw Relationship Corner: Do Men Need to Have a Side Chick?

I'm going to continue to expand this site to cover different topics. In the future, you just won't see videos, and music reviews. We will tackle a variety of things in a raw form, such as sex, finances, maturity, music, etc. Life is more than hip hop music. In that theme, we will post occassionally things about relationships. This is the first post of The Raw Relationship Corner.

Do Men Need To Have A Side Chick?

In this post and as always at The-Raw, we are going to be blunt and transparent so with that said, should men always keep a side piece?

Some people view competition as pushing people for excellence. Example, if you are with your girl for five years and things are going good but she just isn't spontaneous as she was in the beginning. Do you think if she knew there was another person out there that was on their game, that was coming after her property would she rise to the occasion.

I personally think it's ideal to be honest with your lady because if you are deceitful it will always come back to haunt you and infect your spirit. You will start being deceitful in other aspects of your life. It's better to just tell the truth.

With that said, If you think your girl is slacking and she needs to 'step her game up', I don't think it's nothing wrong (matter of fact I think it's bold and real as hell) to maybe say something to the effect of "Baby, look I like/love you but you've been slacking and I'm going to scouting  for a backup QB that I may draft. The starting position is still yours but if you continue with your weak performance you may be benched".

It sounds bold as hell, but the alternative of sneaking and lying to two females isn't an honorable and you are cheating yourself by occupying your mind with unnecessary deceit. Your ole' lady will either step her game up or bounce, either way you have a resolution to your problem.

What's your thoughts?

J. Cole drops his latest video featuring Trey Songz and a cameo from Rhianna. Shot in Trinidad I think. Nice video.

Game - Ain't No Doubt About It feat. Justin Timberlake & Pharrell

Typical outstanding summertime Neptunes track. JT & Pharrell on the hook. This was one of those "instant hits" add rapper and it's done. The Game came through and it's a good summertime track.

Common - Ghetto Dreams feat. Nas

Common/Nas, a collabo that everyone wanted in the mid 90's finally came to fruition in 2011. Produced by No ID. It sounds like something that would fit in 1995. Dope.
