Jay-Z - Blueprint 3 Album Review

Artist: Jay-Z
Album: The Blueprint 3
Rating: C+
Jay-Z, drops Blueprint 3, eight years after one of the new millennium's earliest certified album dropped in 2001 Blueprint.
It was followed up by the double disc Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse that dropped in 2002, which had it's great moments "Excuse Me Miss" "You Don't Know" Remix feat. M.O.P. among others and also featured misses.
On this disc, Jay-Z starts off the Blueprint 3, with "What We Talkin Bout" which some of you may have heard excerpts of if you heard the Vegas freestyle Jay-Z dropped earlier this year (the same freestyle that had The Game going to war). The song is okay, it's not overwhelming and not a standout of the album. It's sort of an indicator how the album is, pretty good lyrical performances, but not much emotion or soul throughout the disc.
The highlights of the disc includes "D.O.A." which was the first single released earlier this summer. The song which has been praised by some and deemed as "hating" by others, features one of the best beats on a single released this year with production by No I.D. Other highlights include "Empire State Of Mind" featuring Alicia Keys which is an ode to the city of New York.
Overall, on this album Jay's lyrics are still on par with the best in the game. The production on the album which isn't bad, doesn't match Jay's charisma or wit displayed in earlier albums. This album isn't a bad album at all, but it would rate in the second half of Jay-Z's catalogue in my opinion.
