Review: T.I. - F*** The City Up Mixtape

Artist: T.I.
Mixtape: F*** The City Up
Year: 2012
Rating: D+

T.I. delivers his anticipated mixtape to kick off the year "F*** The City Up" featuring appearances by a who's who of the industry and Atlanta.

The mixtape kicks off with the intro and horns to get you ready. The title and first track is definitely one of the standouts on here "F*** The City Up" featuring Young Jeezy.

A couple of other standouts from the mixtape are "Loud Mouth" featuring 2 Chainz and "On Purpose".

What the tape lacks is cohesion, which is inherently present on most mixtapes. T.I. is in the upper echelon of artists so even him in "practice mode" outshines most of his guests, especially newcomers from the Grand Hustle label which don't have the same pedigree as him.

You can't be mad at free music and there are a handful of songs that you will won't to keep playing but it's definitely not up there with his previous mixtapes that I loved like "The Leak" or "In The Streets" series that he had about ten years ago.

Life is about evolving the here and now though so if I want the old music it's still available on YouTube or other websites. I just had high expectations from his verses he dropped ("Spend It" w/ 2 Chanz and "I'm Flexin'" w/Big K.R.I.T)  when he first got released from prison
